Chew The Fat! 18th February 2005

Chew The Fat! continues its dominance of all things Breakbeat in 2005 with its fifth exclusive main room mash up at The End.

Chew The Fat! continues its dominance of all things Breakbeat in 2005 with its fifth exclusive main room mash up at The End. Fat! kicked off the New Year in true style last month with an exclusive Breaks set from the ‘Mack Daddy’ himself Bushwacka!

Fat! once again continues its theme of attracting the most exciting names in dance this month with the much anticipated return of the ‘Monsters of Breaks’, Evil 9. Evil 9’s Tom Beaufoy and Pat Pardy’s recent album ‘You Can Be Special Too’ on Freeland’s Marine Parade label received huge critical acclaim. The pair’s diverse DJ sets are of an equally impeccable standard and their next Fat! smash up will simply be too special to miss.

Finger Lickin’s ubiquitous Drumattic Twins - Nick Slater and Lanx (Kevin Lancaster), have also established themselves at the very top of the breaks food chain as a fearsome DJ/Production duo. The Twins are back at Fat! by popular demand and are ready to rock your proverbials off.

Fat! Boss, resident and general Breaks over-lord Paul Arnold will be spinning his own inimitable brand of ‘Breakbeat with soul’. Paul with be joined by fellow resident Friendly, the ‘Aussie Funkstar’ who is gearing up for the March release of the first in a line of special mix CDs “Chew The Fat! at End presents… Friendly” in celebration of these truly charming occasions.

Joining the chaps in the DJ box will be the new Fat! girl in residence Tigerlily aka Emily Walker. Tigerlily held a number of prestigious Breaks residencies back in her native Australia and she now makes her Chew The Fat! debut alongside ‘scratch specialist’ 9 Lives the Cat (Daniel Walker), who is signed to Cut La Roc’s imprint Rocstar Recordings.

The main room event will be overseen once again by ‘the host with most’ MC Xander. Xander the ‘multi vocalist extraordinaire’ has constantly perplexed the Fat! crowds with his unique vocal scratching, tuff beat boxing and quite baffling rhyme spitting. To hear is to believe.

If your Breakbeat feet get a little weary then why not pop into the lounge and relax with the ‘Kings of Kotch’, The Big Chill SoundSystem. The cream of ‘The Big Chill Festival’ DJs will be in attendance providing much needed relief from the inevitable main room carnage.

Chew the Fat! serves up yet another delectable dish of calorific Breakbeat that will leave any club connoisseur begging for seconds. Fat!’s party attitude is unrivalled with friendly fun at the very top of its manifesto. On Friday 18th February forget about the humdrum of the daily grind as Arnold and Co. bump tings up and deliver yet another epic installment of cutting edge electronic revelry.

The End - Friday 18th February 2005 - Chew The Fat - 2200/0500 - £10/£6 NUS
Main Room: Evil 9, Drumattic Twins, Friendly, Paul Arnold & Tigerlily with 9 Lives the Cat.
Hosted by MC Xander
Lounge: The Big Chill SoundSystem.
